Tallow

Terms & Conditions

Last updated 2 June 2026

These terms govern your use of Tallow(“the service”). By signing in and using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

The service

Tallowis a personal accounting assistant that connects to HMRC’s VAT (Making Tax Digital) API and to FreeAgent on your instruction, and uses a large language model to help you understand and act on your company’s accounts. Access is restricted to a single authorised user.

Not professional advice

Tallow is a software tool, not an accountant, tax adviser or auditor. Its responses are generated by an AI model and may be incomplete or incorrect. Nothing it produces constitutes professional accounting, tax or legal advice. You are responsible for checking the information against your own records and, where appropriate, taking advice from a qualified professional.

HMRC submissions are your responsibility

The service can prepare and submit VAT returns to HMRC. You must review and confirm the figures before anything is submitted. Once submitted, you remain solely responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of your returns and for any resulting obligations to HMRC. Tallow is not liable for amounts assessed, penalties, or interest arising from your submissions.

Your responsibilities

  • Keep your sign-in credentials secure and do not share your account.
  • Provide accurate information, including a correct VAT registration number.
  • Use the service lawfully and only for your own company’s accounting.
  • Maintain your own connections to HMRC and FreeAgent and comply with their respective terms of use.

Third-party services

The service relies on HMRC, FreeAgent and AWS. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and their availability is outside our control.

Availability and changes

The service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tallow and its operator are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under law.

Termination

You may stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or withdraw access where these terms are breached or where required to protect the service.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
